The Identification Atlas of Birds of Aragon is a collection of documents made by Javier Blasco Zumeta whose aim is to help people to identify birds found in Aragon.
Javier Blasco Zumeta, elementary school teacher and expert bird ringer since 20 years, has a deep knowledge about these animals. Naturalist in a broad sense, he organized the inventory of the fauna and flora of Aragon’s steppe, finding dozens of new species of invertebrates, and as a result of this, he was awarded with the Cross of Alfonso X the Wise and the Environment Award of Aragon in 2004. Each document of this Atlas includes:
Just the images about sex and age are the novelty of this guide, because there is not a similar work in Europe and without this Atlas you should use very specialized literature and technical descriptions.
This Atlas is clasified by families. Each bird has an icon, the english and scientific name and a pdf document with information and images. Due to the high quality of those images, the size of some documents can exceed 6 Megabytes.
Because images are taken when birds are captured for ringing, this collection is constantly updated. The completed documents are marked with a icon.
Symbol means that the file contains only text without images.
Each document has a phenology section indicating when the bird can be found in Aragon:
